Norebang Machine _ computer installation_ 1997

A machine, that shows a sequence of different symbols, sorted by their shape-characteristics. Randomly it stops at some point - flashing and playing a melody alongside the picture. Melodies are randomly composed or chosen randomly out of a pool of around 50 popular melodies.

As well as the symbols are carrying meanings so do the melodies ... as well as the same symbol can have very different meanings in different cultures or ages, so does the melody.

An experiment in combining different meanings ... maybe an experiment to prove, that symbols and melodies are meaningless by default.
