about Crash&Flow _ interactive installation _ 2004

This work I produced as an interpretation of the theme for the media-exhibition 'Crash&Flow'. It took place in an old prison where the japanese kept and murdered many members of the korean resistance in the beginning of the 20th century. It is a work about the flow of time, memories that fade away and an experiment with the participation of the public. The shadows of visitors are composed over a background-video that echoes historical still-images, the shadows are recorded and played back when there is no movement in front of the screen - so the visitors can experience themselves to become history ... superimposed over the shadows is text from an online guestbook, that visitors can write in ... due to lack of time there's no sound in this installation.
