shadowplay _ interactive video + sound installation _ 2004

This work was shown in august 2004 at "insa-Art-Space" / Seoul in an exhibition called "my name is game!". The main-reason why people play games is to develop their skills. There are many specialized games that train many different special skills a human being needs, to be successful and survive in its surrounding

- games that help in developing communicational skills, games that help developing physical skills, games that help develop logical or strategical thinking, games that help develop social skills - and so on ...Seen under this aspect my work for this exhibition may have a potential of helping to develop the skill of communication via body language - especially for the case of having communication via body language with oneself.

The shadow of the visitor seems to react by its own will - trying to communicate with its 'master' (the visitor) through imitation and reinterpretation of its masters performance in front of the screen ... the situation is a bit like trying to teach words to a parrot or maybe like having a freejazz improvisation with a musician, who has a perfect skill in reinterpretating the melodies of other musicians but who has no skill of contributing own melodies.
